The World Travel Awards winners were announced on December 7, at CuisinArt Golf Resort & Spa in the Caribbean and Portugal, which had 25 nominations, managed to win in 3 categories. The Portuguese winners are:
Parques de Sintra – Monte da Lua – World’s Leading Conservation Company
Vila Joya Restaurant – World’s Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant
Conrad Algarve – World’s Leading Luxury Leisure Resort
Parques de Sintra, manager of spaces like the Pena Palace or the Moorish Castle, won for the second consecutive year in the category World’s Leading Conservation Company.
The Vila Joya restaurant, which has 2 Michelin stars, was considered the best dining experience in a hotel restaurant but the hotel was left behind as best hotel and best boutique resort.
Conrad Algarve, in Almancil, won the award for World’s Leading Luxury Leisure Resort but didn´t won in the other category for which it was nominated, best luxury resort.
This result was not a great achievement as the one on the European round of the "Tourism Oscars" in which we won 16 awards, a record for Portugal, but it is still an important performance for our tourism.
