Recently open to public the new east wing of Terreiro do Paço is a reason more to make this a place no to miss as a must while you’re staying in Lisbon. Reconversion project of the area that started with former reconstruction of the west wing is now complete with new attractions that promise to add more life to this historical and emblematic zone, one of Europe’s most stunning square – unique in its past, gender, architecture, dimensions, light as location. A place not to miss for its history, it’s incomparable panoramic view over the river, it’s closeness to Tejo’s river bank, it’s neighborhood to Cais do Sodré, its surroundings, Baixa, Praça da Figueira, Martim Moniz, Alfama, at walking distance and on the way to Castelo de São Jorge.
New places not to miss
East wing reconstruction is followed with the opening of new spaces and varied offer: new terraces, a food court, Ministerium, that invites you to taste Hot Dog Lovers incredible hot dogs and hamburgers, Artisani’s ice-creams and Banana Café salads. Others restaurants, for a pizza or an ice-icream, Nosolo Itália, where you can find vera (real) Italian cuisine, from a spagguetti scampi, to their Tropical Pizza or the Bella Itália pancake. Specialized in gourmet cannery, Can The Can, a restaurant where you can taste national cannery as well as acquire nice lively colored cans. A Café and a restaurant, Populi, is a combination of a fine wine collection and tasteful house delicacy. Ginginha do Carmo kiosk, a kiosk where you can have the typical café or try the famous Ginginha de Óbidos licor, to go with why not try a queijada de Sintra or a Portalegre’s egg. A disco, Lust Lisboa, with a décor that reads from past tendencies it promises to cheer up Lisbon night. Estimated for September a new space inauguration, Lisbon Story Centre – Memories of the city. Dedicated to Lisbon history and heritage, this interpretation centre will count among its main attractions with a theatre that recreates, in 4D, the 1755 earthquake experience.
